Preparing Items:Items you will need: Safety Pins-Larger than 1", the little ones just don't work. 3x5 cards, hangers, clear packing tape, scissors, Ziploc Bags, Pens, Hole Punch, Iron.
CLEAN your items! I can't stress this enough. The better your items look, the more likely they will sell and you can charge more! You can buy the Magic Eraser which works great for scuff marks on toys, shoes, outdoor equipment. Clothing-Iron your items. Wrinkled items do not sell. The hanger must be facing left. It should resemble a ? mark when you hold it in front of you. Pants should be pinned to the hangar. ***Please pay special attention to this. Every year, we always have someone who has to re-hang items when they arrive. It is very frustrating for the person who has spent a lot of time and has to re-do the work. Notice how the hanger looks like a ? mark ?
Shoes-Either tie shoes together or tape together. You can also place small shoes in a ziploc bag and tape a tag to the outside of the bag. All bags must be taped shut. Shoes must be in great condition. Make sure they are securely together, they will be handled a lot. Toys-You must have all pieces and they must be clean. For small things, you can use ziploc bags and tape the tag to the outside of the bag. All ziploc bags must be taped shut to prevent people from switching bags. If you have a large item, that has small pieces, place the small items in a ziploc bag and securely attach it with tape to the large portion. Toys are excellent sellers. If multiple pieces tag each item and then place together. Example, tag one will state price and 1 of 6, tag 2 will have xxx in price area and state 2 of 6. Large Items-We suggest you take the time to assemble your item. They will sell better if assembled. If you can't, we suggest you attach a photo of the item assembled. Any small pieces must be placed in ziploc bags and attached to the item. Remember always tape ziploc bags closed and attach the tag to the outside of the bag. Small Items-socks, bibs, small toys, etc should be placed in Ziploc
bags. Tape the bag shut and place your tag on the outside of the bag.
Puzzles-place in bags or use saran wrap to hold them together. Place tag on outside of bag or wrap. Electronic Items-ALL electronic items must have batteries. If they do not have batteries, we will not accept them. You can purchase batteries cheaply from the Dollar Store. We will have some available for purchase but our supply will be limited. Multiple Pieces-If you have an item that has multiple pieces. Example, a crib that is not assembled. Make a tag for each piece. On the tag, do NOT list a price except on the main tag. Label each tag 1 of X (Total # of pieces). If you crib has 6 pieces, you will make 6 tags. The largest piece will have the price and will be labeled 1 of 6. All other pieces, place XXX in price area and label 2 of 6, 3 of 6 etc. IMPORTANT: Remember, we need the tag at check out so do not place tags in ziploc bags or make them too difficult to remove. Tape them so they are secure but do not cover the entire tag etc. Any items that are incorrectly prepared/bagged/tagged will have to be re-done by you before being accepted. ** A special note to the spring 2007 consignors. You guys did an AMAZING job of having items prepared perfectly! Keep up the good work!
